Seeking to be in accord with nature, Trappist Caskets make only earth-friendly products here in the United States. Since 1849, all of their caskets are from the handcrafted work of the Monks of the New Melleray Abbey in Peosta, Iowa. Trees from their own forest provide some of the lumber for their caskets and urns. A comprehensive forest management plan determines which trees are selectively harvested. With a new tree planted in memory of every casket and urn recipient, the forest continues to grow in a harmonious balance. The monks view their work as a corporal act of mercy, crafting caskets as if they were cradles. Thus, caskets of the purest quality are the result.
