Mary Ann Jordan passed away on July 15, 2024, at the age of 78 in Santa Monica, California. Born on February 11, 1946, Mary Ann's life was marked by her spirited and no-nonsense approach to both her personal and professional endeavors. Although Mary Ann was fond of saying that she went to the School of Hard Knocks, Mary Ann's educational journey began at Woodlawn Elementary School in Annandale, Virginia, followed by high school years divided between the American HS in Greece and Annandale HS. She spent her first year of college at Russell Sage in New York and then graduated with a BA in Child Psychology from the University of Denver in 1970. Mary Ann started her career as a primary school teacher, but she soon realized she had a knack for design. She started working at the Antique Guild in the 1980's, which is where she first cultivated her love of furniture. Her career trajectory continued to evolve as she moved into real estate, ultimately attending Otis Parsons and receiving an ASID (American Society of Interior Designers) certificate. Her interior design firm, Jordan by Design, Inc. created beautiful interiors for many homes in Los Angeles and beyond. Her passion for design permeated all areas of her life. She loved to travel and went on many trips all over the US and the world, with most of her trips serving to indulge her love of art and architecture. In her 60s, she took up painting. She enjoyed finding and photographing interesting flowers, artwork or portraits to use to practice her hobby. Mary Ann is survived by her children, Natalie Visher Snyder and Talmage David Maxwell Jordan, and her sister, R Jo Reser. She was preceded in death by her father, Talmage deWitt Cooper; her mother, Mary L Cooper; and her brother, Talmadge deWitt Cooper Jr. Mary Ann's legacy is carried forward, not only through her family and the many lives she touched, but also through the vibrant life she led, marked by incredible resilience, creativity, and a profound love for life.
