Jeffrey Donald Watt, Husband to Jacqui, Father to daughters Lillijane and Emerson, Son of Carol Anne and Donald James Watt, Brother to James Douglas Watt and sister-in-law Elizabeth Mossy Watt, Brother to Jennifer Watt Sheskey and brother-in-law Michael John Sheskey; and adored uncle to his nieces and nephews, passed away peacefully with his wife holding his hand on May 16, 2024, in Newport Beach, California. Jeff was 58 years old and leaves behind his loving and adoring family. Jeff’s love of life, love of friends, and love of family knew no bounds. His quick wit, funny stories, and hilarious expressions, along with his great laugh and ear-to-ear smile will be remembered by all who knew him, and all who loved him. Jeff graduated from Scituate High School in 1984, attended a post-graduate year and graduated from the Tilton School in 1985, and then graduated from Boston University in 1989. Jeff followed his brother into the insurance industry, starting his career with Cigna Healthcare in Los Angeles. In 1994, Jeff chose to represent clients’ interests, becoming an employee benefits consultant with Employee Benefit Solutions, Inc. (Houston) ABD, Precept Group, before starting his own Firm, W Insurance Services – loving the challenges of being an entrepreneur. Throughout his career, Jeff was a champion for his clients, always advocating for the best outcomes between clients and insurers.
Jeff met the love of his life, Jacqui, when they were both 13 years old and dated off and on for many years before getting married on February 16, 2006, embracing daughter Lillijane, as his own, on their wedding day. On October 15, 2007, Emerson was born, rounding out and completing his family. Jeff thoroughly enjoyed being a “girl dad”, and constantly gushed with joy on their various pursuits. Jeff was known for his endless curiosity of all things, his love of life, and for the depth of the friendships he made throughout his life. Jeff “never met a stranger”, and worked to get to know everybody, always seeking to have “a friend I haven’t met before”. Jeff was an active outdoorsman and enjoyed golf and shooting sports with his many friends, and family. In addition, Jeff was an avid live music fan, a lover of comedians, and a world-class “foodie”. He shared all of these interests with his family and friends, and he proudly remained a faithful fan of all Boston professional sports. Jeff created infinite memories for all of his family and friends, which will be cherished by all who knew him. The family would like to send heartfelt thanks to the many friends who have offered prayers of love and support. We extend our unending gratitude to all who prayed for Jeff and the Watt family, as well as to the amazing caregivers at Hoag Hospital, Newport Beach.
There will be a private family memorial ceremony for Jeff to be held on June 6, 2024, in Costa Mesa, CA. A formal announcement on a Celebration of Life in his honor in Orange County, CA, will be announced shortly. In place of customary remembrances, the family requests that memorial contributions in his name be directed to the Life Is Good Playmaker Project, a nonprofit dedicated to helping kids heal from childhood trauma, at https://www.lifeisgood.com/playmakerproject/donate.html. We invite you to take a few moments to share your fond memories of Jeff or words of comfort and condolences with his family.
