Erin passed peacefully at her home in Venice CA on October 25, 2024.
Erin-Aine Miller was born in Santa Monica, California, October 15, 1952 to W. Owens Miller and Margaret Mary “MM” Howard Miller. Erin was a fourth generation Angelina.
Erin attended Immaculate Heart High School and graduated from Stanford University in 1976 with honors. She was awarded full scholarships to Stanford, to the Broadcast program at the University of Southern California Graduate School of Journalism, and was Writer-in-Residence at Trinity College (Dublin, Ireland) in 1981.
After writing three books on labor relations for UCLA, Erin began her documentary career in Paris, developing, co-writing and researching a film series on Third World resources for Algerian National Cinema. She worked in film and television in Canada and the United States and was a talented writer, producer, director and documentary maker who won gold and bronze medals at the New York International Film & TV Festival, as well as multiple New York Festivals, Mobius, Gemini & International Television Association nominations. Erin received commendations for her work from both the United Way and the American Red Cross.
Erin studied Environmental Resource Management at Simon Fraser University in British Columbia, and Landscape Architecture and Interior Design at UCLA. Since 2004 she was the Landscape and Interior Design Principal at Culver Architects.
Erin’s intelligence, wit, brilliant mind, and design sensibility were evident in everything she did. She was a dedicated Buddhist, committed to championing everyone she encountered.
Erin is survived by Ron Culver, her devoted husband of 32 years, siblings Owens O’Keefe “Murphy” (Sara), O’Malley Murray (Ann), and pre-deceased by her parents and sister Cassie Colleen Hodgins and brother John Michael (Dottie).
Erin’s Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, December 7th at 11:00 am at the Santa Monica Buddhist Center, 2601 Pico Blvd., Santa Monica CA 90405.
