Born in the Mapo district of Seoul, South Korea, Bong Jae was of the Jeon Ju Lee family; he was the third child and had three sisters. He graduated in 1981 from university majoring in electrical engineering, and immigrated to the US in 1985. He would eventually meet and marry Yong Ok So in 1999.
He and his wife Yong Ok faithfully served their Bethel Church (Irvine), and both were members of the choir for many years. He enjoyed the outdoors, and his passion for golf was shared with his friends and family members. His soft spoken demeanor, and his caring personality strengthened meaningful relationships in his life. He was a committed and loyal employee who worked for the same company for the past 25 years. After courageously fighting multiple battles with cancer, he went to be with our Lord on June 12.
He is survived by his wife Yong Ok, his in-laws in Northern California, and his children and grandchildren in Southern California:
Lena (Yong Mi) Lee, son-in-law David (Chong Hyuk) Lee, grandsons Joshua (Soo), Dominic (Hyun Woo), Jacob (Hyun Soo), and David Jr. (Kyung Soo).
Kevin (Ho Jin) Lee, daughter-in-law So Hee Lee, granddaughters Kaylin (Ha Yeong) and Ariana (Ha Eun).
Martin (Sang Ho) Kim, daughter-in-law Cindy Martinez-Kim, granddaughters Caitlyn and Gia (Min Woo).
He is also survived by his sisters and family members in Korea: Sun Jae Lee, Sook Jae Lee, and Min Jae Lee.
