Alan Charof, 89, passed away at home on August 30, 2025, just a weeks before his 90th birthday, leaving behind a legacy of creativity, laughter, and generosity.
Born in New York City, New York, Alan lived a life defined by reinvention and passion. At the age of 52, he launched a successful acting career in New York, later moving to California to continue pursuing his dream. At 64, he authored a novel, further cementing his love for storytelling. Beyond his professional pursuits, Alan was deeply committed to service, volunteering for many years with the Highway Patrol.
He is survived by his soulmate and wife of 56 years, Eileen; his brother, Ken; his children, Eric and Lynne; seven grandchildren—Adam, Matt, Dan, Zach, Jamie, Jake, and Luke; and two great-grandchildren, Sofia and Lola. Alan will be remembered as charismatic and generous, with an unmatched sense of humor and a gift for spinning unforgettable stories. His presence filled every room, and his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
A celebration of his life will be held with an air burial at sea at 11 AM on October 5, 2025, at Pointe Vicente in Rancho Palos Verdes.
