Natural Organic Reduction / Terramation

Offering a Gentle, Natural Return to the Earth

Why Families Choose Natural Organic Reduction

Families often choose this option because it offers a different kind of goodbye, providing one that feels grounded, intentional, and life-giving.

How It Works

Natural Organic Reduction is a gentle, natural process that transforms human remains into life-giving soil using organic materials such as alfalfa, straw, and sawdust.

Families have the option to take part in a meaningful laying-in service, either in person or virtually, offering a moment to say goodbye. The vessel may be personalized with flowers, letters, or other items that reflect love and remembrance. Within the vessel, oxygen is carefully introduced to support the body’s natural microbes. These microbes, already present within us, begin a rapid and natural transformation.

Over approximately 30 days, the body is returned to the soil. After this phase, the soil is gently screened to remove any non-organic materials, then placed into a resting cube where it cools and stabilizes for an additional 30 days. At the end of the process, what remains is clean, nutrient-rich soil—ready to be returned home to the family or scattered in a meaningful place.
